A historic first for Belgian interior architecture

In 2025, Aurélie Penneman became the first female Belgian interior architect ever to be featured in Architectural Digest USA, the world’s most influential design authority.

Our Belfast residence was selected for an in-depth feature, placing our interior architecture studio alongside a very select group of Belgian names who have received this honor before us – all of them men, each an icon with their own visual language.

This milestone is more than a publication. It is a quiet but powerful statement about women’s presence, voice and authorship in high-end Belgian interior architecture.

An ode to color, warmth and character

Where many Belgian interiors still default to safe neutrals, we chose a different visual language. We introduced colour with intention, through wall finishes, fabric choices & carefully selected interior objects.

Aurélie’s signature is instantly recognisable:

  • Bold yet liveable color combinations

  • Layered patterns and textures that feel curated, not chaotic

  • Warmth and intimacy within architecturally refined spaces

  • A constant dialogue between art, object and daily life

Every project is approached as a tailor-made universe, built around the client’s personality, rhythm and rituals. From full A to Z renovations, including demolition, sanitary and electrical works, ventilation, screed and insulation, to the smallest finishing touches and decor pieces.

The Belfast residence, as seen in AD USA, is no exception: a home that feels both quietly composed and joyfully expressive. For some clients, we also take on partial assignments, such as furniture and styling only, with flexible formulas to match your needs.

History. Color. Character.

A woman-led studio with an international gaze

Founded seven years ago, our interior architecture studio is intentionally boutique. Every project starts and ends with Aurélie.

Together with Kelsey, she guides each assignment from first conversation to final styling, remaining closely involved in:

  • Concept and spatial storytelling

  • Material, color and artwork curation

  • Custom furniture and detail design

  • On-site follow-up and dialogue with craftsmen

At 34 years old Aurélie’s trajectory is anything but conventional. The AD USA feature recognizes what has always driven the studio: persistence, creativity and uncompromising passion.

From Belgium to Paris, Milan and beyond, we collaborate with clients who seek high-end, characterful interiors that feel resolutely unique.
