J Manor involves the renovation of a spacious dining room and library space in a classic country house, surrounded by a beautiful green garden where the sun provides a beautiful play of light and shadow in the afternoon. Initially, these rooms were only used in winter, because they were much too gloomy in summer. The owner wanted to make the most of these spaces, both to receive guests and to unwind with a book.

In keeping with the classic architecture of the house, we have brought a modern and warm touch to both spaces. We built a large natural oak bookcase wall into which the tv could be slid away nicely, complemented by white panelling and romantic English country style wallpaper. Vintage flea market finds such as special handles and custom made furnishings like the light blue carpet and an eye-catching chandelier give the interior a unique radiance. The classic elements have been carefully styled with design furniture, such as Pierre Guariche chairs and Serge Mouille and André Cazenave lighting.

By air gumming the parquet floor, the terracotta tiles and the rustic dining table, the rooms are completely brightened up. The library is now a favourite refuge where the owner can retreat and unwind between her literary and musical passions. At Christmas you will always find the grandchildren on the windowsill, which has been transformed into a long, cosy bench.
