From an outdated apartment to a completely refurbished apartment full of Italian flair: this is the Sunset Apartment. The clients wanted a unique seaside retreat to receive guests in a casual atmosphere. The idea for this renovation was born out of a penchant for the Italian design style of the fifties. All the materials have a link with this era, from the type of timber to the curtains.

The characteristic red Scarpa floor is echoed in the kitchen in combination with Afrormosia veneer and Pietra d'Istria, a Venetian limestone. The red Venetian glass mosaic was laid by hand, stone by stone. The same shape of the stones is reflected in the cupboard doors of the library furniture, in the casings of the radiators and even in the floor panels of the floor convectors. In the guest toilet, we combined the red Venetian glass mosaic with a raffia wallcovering with a vintage look and warm green walls. The brass fixtures match the patinated brass handles on the doors, which resemble pebbles from the beach.

In the living room, the fireplace was covered with handmade ceramic tiles from Veneto, which complement the pale Italian lime plaster flooring. In addition to some vintage design pieces such as the fifties hanging lamp above the dining table, we also designed furniture ourselves. The blue and white carpet contrasts nicely with the orange Marenco sofa, while the custom dining table stands out with its design based on the keel of a boat. The wall lamps in the hallway were handmade in a shell shaped design, alluding to the sea. We have enhanced the beautiful sea view by framing it like a painting, by means of a wooden frame that runs around the windows. Sunset sea views for days.
